Sonic Mania 2

This is a little something I made for RAGE (Really Amateur Games Expo) 2024 for which I won a (participation) prize! :D

The theme for this year's event was "Sonic Mania 2," so I pondered on what Sonic Mania 1 was about and I how I would go about making a second one.  I arrived at two major things.  The game had to be a compilation of past stages and had to involve the Phantom Ruby!  Hence, I made a compilation of past stages that Sonic travels to using the Phantom Ruby!  It ended up becoming a boss rush half way through because I was pressed for time.  That means that this game is rushed and unfinished, just like a real Sonic Game!

There are somethings that may look unfinished, but are intentional.  Case in point, Sonic's T-Posing.  The game is meant to be cursed, so I tried to make it cursed!  I wanted the music to sound cursed as well but all I could really do to it was decrease the sample rate.  I also tried to make sure all the music used was used in Sega games before.

Something else that Sonic Mania does is tie into Sonic Forces.  I also tried to do that with this game by somewhat alluding to the plot of my ongoing project, Sonic Neo Harmony!

Also most of my time was spent hyper-fixating on getting Sonic to play "right" and I think I did a good job.  I tried out a different layout for the final stage so that people can have a good enough "sand" box to play with him in
